Albert Edward Berry was known throughout most of the world, particularly in North America, for his achievements and leadership in the field of sanitary engineering. He was the first General Manager and Chief Engineer of the Ontario Water Resources Commission.

Over the years, Albert contributed outstanding service and leadership—often simultaneously—to several professional bodies, particularly in the fields of water supply, sanitation, pollution control, water resources and conservation.

Albert was the recipient of many honours and awards, including the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario Gold Medal and Officer of the Order of Canada.
