After graduation, Kenneth Harry John Clarke joined the International Nickel Company of Canada Limited and rose through various levels of responsibility to become Inco’s Vice President of Marketing.

During the Second World War, he served on the Wartime Prices and Trade Board in Ottawa, and on the Combined Production and Resources Board in Washington.

Clarke’s services to the international mining and trade communities were considerable. He was the Canadian delegate at many United Nations meetings on metal resources development and at the United Nations Technology Meetings and the Law of the Sea Conference from 1955-1981. He is a past International Chairman of the Pacific Basin Economic Council.

Clarke was a member of the Advisory committee to the Federal Minister of Energy, Mines and Resources, Ottawa, and served on numerous boards and councils for mining and international trade. His involvement outside of these fields included being President of the Stratford Shakespearean Festival Foundation of Canada.

  • Personally opened the Communist China market from Inco nickel and copper (1970-1975)
