Frost, John George Geohegan

John George Geoghegan Frost served as a chemist in the Canadian Army during the First World War, and, upon discharge, his career led him to metallurgy, civic service and philanthropy.

Frost moved to the United States in 1919 where, after gaining experience with the National Smelting Company in Cleveland, he established the successful Aluminum and Magnesium Incorporated in Sandusky, Ohio (1938), for the recovery of these metals from scrap.

His civic service in Sandusky included 16 years on the Human Relations Commission, 14 years on the Harbour Commission, City Commissioner for six years, and Mayor for two years.

Frost established Engineering scholarships at the University of Alabama, and his financial donations to education have been recognized by Rotary and Kiwanis for their generosity and vision.
