Jim Cawley’s long Engineering career comprises tow periods of distinguished public service and since 1978 as a self-employed professional Engineer.

Following a short time as a private sector mining Engineer as Head of Engineering Division, Lakehead College of Arts and Sciences, Thunder Bay, he worked for 20 years in the Saskatchewan government developing programs in potash, uranium, sodium phosphate, oil and other mineral resources. In seven years, he became the province’s Deputy Minister of Mineral Resources. During this period, he was loaned to the united Nations as a cabinet-level consultant in Jamaica, Pakistan, Burma and Indonesia on negotiations of oil and gas agreements with major oil companies.

Then, following a year as Principal of Cambrian College, Sudbury, and another year as a mining consultant in Saskatchewan, he became Deputy Minister of Mines, Resources and Environmental Management in the Manitoba government. There, he contributed to the development of Manitoba resources.

In both Saskatchewan and Manitoba, Jim Cawley’s leadership qualities were used in planning and implementing provincial hospitals and medicare programs, and forest conservation, mine safety and rescue.

•    Self-employed consulting engineer in numerous corporate and government clients in resource utilization
