Re-engineering Education for a Changing Landscape

Join us this month as Prof. Greg Evans discusses how U of T Engineering is redefining the teaching and practice of engineering.

Major shifts are occurring in the teaching and practice of engineering. The quest to address complex societal needs is broadening the scope of engineering to bring in practices from domains such as design, leadership, communication, education, business, sustainability, globalization and entrepreneurship.

Dr. Evans will introduce the Institute for Studies in Transdisciplinary Engineering Education and Practice (ISTEP), launched in July 2018 to meet these challenges.  I will describe instructional strategies being developed to integrate transdisciplinary competencies and skills development, as well as the roles of metacognition and knowledge integration in fostering lifelong and lifewide learning.

Prof. Greg Evans, PhD, FCEA, FAAAS is the Director of the Institute for Studies in Transdisciplinary Engineering Education and Practice (ISTEP) a new department at the University of Toronto.  He is also the Director of the Collaborative Specialization in Engineering Education, a 3M national Teaching Fellow, and a member of the University of Toronto President’s Teaching Academy.

**Please note that this event will be held at the 5th floor atrium of the Myhal Centre, and not in the Lunch & Learn’s regular location at the Faculty Club**
