Redfern, Donald Blaine

In the early years following graduation, Donald Redfern was responsible for the design and construction supervision of 20 sewage treatment plants. Additionally, during this period he held the position of Project Engineer on several major engineering projects throughout Ontario.

Donald also participated in a number of area government amalgamations and annexation studies, which resulted in the restructuring, enlargement and consolidation of the communities involved.

He was made a Partner of Proctor and Redfern in 1954.  He was elected Vice-President of Proctor and Redfern Limited in 1969, President and General manager in 1974 and assumed the additional responsibilities of Chairman of the Board in 1977.

He has served as a Member of Council, Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario and as its President in 1965-1966.  He has been heavily involved in “Second Mile” work with a number of charitable, educational, church and club organizations.

His contributions to engineering have been recognized throughout the years: the Sons of Martha Medal (1972), President of the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers (1968-1969) and Fellow of the Engineering Institute of Canada.
