Gordon Frederick Tracy (1896-1977) devoted his entire career to the research and teaching of Electrical Engineering. Upon graduation, he worked with the team at the University of Toronto that developed the automatic frequency time regulator for electric power systems.
In 1924, Gordon undertook research work at MIT, which was followed by a move to the University of Wisconsin where he became Professor and Chairman of the Department of Electrical Engineering.
Gordon returned to the University of Toronto in 1947 to serve as Head of the Electrical Engineering Department and remained until 1964. During this period, he taught his special field of electrical machines and contributed significantly to its technical literature. He was a wise and innovative leader.
