Stewart Young devoted his entire working career to public service in the Province of Saskatchewan.  After graduation, he joined the staff of the Saskatchewan Public Works Department as a surveyor.  He moved to the Highways Department, and in 1924 became Director of Community Planning, a position he held until his retirement in 1951.

As a pioneer in public administration, he authored the imaginative and effective Community Planning Act of 1945 and the Saskatchewan Municipal Planning Act of 1946.

Upon retirement, his community interests included research for physical development of the entire Regina area.

Stewart Young Bay in Sulphide Lake remains as Saskatchewan’s tribute, made in 1966.
