Over the last few years there has been a renewed focus on developing Black representation and inclusion within the U of T Engineering Community. Efforts such as the U of T Engineering Black Inclusion Steering Committee (BISC) “Striving for Black Inclusivity” report highlights some of the gaps and barriers that need to be addressed and the work that needs to be done (and/or built upon).

The U of T Engineering Alumni office recognizes the important role that our Alumni play in leveraging their experiences and insight in making the U of T engineering experience a better one for the students that come after them. Our Office is committed to act as an accessible conduit to all our alumni communities to share their perspective and help guide change and support for current (and prospective) U of T engineering students. As well, we want to hear feedback on how we can make our alumni communications, events and programming more welcoming for under-represented communities. An important step in our renewed commitment is to provide more structured opportunities to engage our Black alumni, share their perspectives/recommendations with senior Faculty administrators and discuss ways in which we could collaborate to provide support for our current/prospective Black students.

The Alumni office is putting out a call to alumni who self-identify as Black to participate in a virtual meeting on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2020 from 7-8:30 pm where we hope to provide platform for alumni voices to share their insight, experiences and to start to discuss ways in which the Alumni office can collaborate with Black alumni to play its role in improving Black inclusion within the Faculty.
